Continuing Professional Development at the Learning Centre

Here at the Corn Exchange, our Ageing Creatively Programme seeks to improve the lives of everyone in our community through access to great art and participatory opportunities. To help us with our mission we provide bespoke CPD opportunities targeted at anyone who would like to improve their practice.

On 20 July we'll be hosting Stopgap Dance Company with a specially commissioned workshop on Inclusive Practice.

From 10am - 5pm the company will draw on their vast experience of inclusive dance practice. With practical exploration and discussion this all-day intensive will focus on giving those who work in an inclusive setting the confidence to create an accessible environment, and integrate diverse groups.

The day will equip participants with the tools for developing movement skills for a range of abilities, games and tasks for bringing together diverse groups, dissect open vocabulary and give time for reflection on individual practice. The day is for dancers and non-dancers, artists, facilitators and also those working in Day Centres or Health and Social Care who have an interest in leading inclusive activities for all. To book on to this FREE workshop simply email a member of the Learning and Participation team and quote 'STOPGAP' in the subject line.

Previous CPD workshops have included a non-verbal communication workshop with leading full mask theatre company Vamos Theatre and more recently we invited Penny Greenland of JABADAO to the Learning Centre to explore play with us and a group of healthcare professionals.

Alongside this, we also offer a rolling programme of Dementia Friends sessions, click here to see when the next one is.
